Published February 4, 2013

Super Bowl Reaction - The San Francisco 49ers lost its quest for a sixth Super Bowl title this past weekend to the Baltimore Ravens. Northern California was swept up in Kaepernick Fever, and even though the team lost, San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick still managed to thrill fans with a second-half surge. Today on Insight, we'll recap some of the highlights and follow up with Rod Hollars, Principal of John Pittman High School in Turlock, where Colin Kaepernick went to school.

Remembering Our Roots - To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington D.C., Clarence B. Jones - former personal counsel, adviser, speechwriter and close friend of Dr. King - will deliver the keynote address at "Remembering Our Roots: Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at King Hall." Jones' appearance is part of a larger event at UC Davis to remember the Civil Rights movement. The program starts at noon Monday at the UC Davis Conference Center and is free and open to the public.

California's Job Climate - California is a state with a split business personality, according to a new story in the Sacramento Business Journal. It's business regulations are killing off low-wage manufacturing jobs but they're also fostering high-wage technology jobs. Mark Anderson, staff writer for the Sacramento Business Journal, has just written an in-depth article explaining how California can both be a job killer and job creator. He joins us with the details.

Winter Gardening - For some people, the Super Bowl marks the end of football season and the beginning of another season - winter gardening. We'll get the lowdown on what to do with your yard and gardens from Pam Bone, landscape horticulturist and UC Lifetime Master Gardener in Sacramento County, and Quentyn "Q" Young, Nursery Manager at Fair Oaks Boulevard Nursery.
